A balanced transmission scheme based on incentive mechanism is proposed to solve the problem of bidirectional traffic caused by selfless node in wireless Mesh network. First, the bidirectional target throughput of each transport access point (TAP) is deduced. Then, an incentive mechanism is proposed to encourage the idle TAP forwarding data through the credit and tokens payment strategy, while allowing the gateway to transmit the downlink data as much as possible to the TAP. Simulation results on a wireless Mesh network with three TAPs show that the method can ensure the balance of bidirectional traffic in the presence of selfish nodes.
